A BIG Thank You...

ERL have been very busy over the last weeks organising a charity shopping event in aid of a local charity – Crazy Hats Breast Cancer Appeal.

This charity supports women and men who are going through treatment for breast cancer, who are about to undertake treatment or are fighting the battle to become cancer survivors.

We would like to shout out a big thank you to everyone who helped us raise money for Crazy Hats including all the stallholders who came along to sell their wonderful merchandise, it was a lovely evening and ERL are proud to be able to help raise money and awareness for such a worthy cause.

Due to the success of the evening and the lovely friendly atmosphere the cogs are already turning to put the wheels in motion to organise our next event.

Keep a look out on our blog or Facebook for more updates on this.

Thanks again to you all xxx

What is it I have forgotten.... and why do I need it?

So we have all decided to keep fit and get in shape ready for the summer, we have joined the gym purchased our new gym kit and we are ready to go... but wait  we have forgotten one thing.. now here at ERL we know the importance of this little item but as we still forgot it made us wonder how many of you girlies would also forget?

It is the most vital piece of exercise equipment at all – A Sports Bra!

A lot of us would all be thinking, what is all the fuss about but the facts speak for themselves...  Breasts are mostly composed of fatty tissue and are supported by skin and ligaments called Coopers Ligaments, as these are not elastic during high impact sports the breasts bounce and pull on these ligaments causing them to stretch, once these ligaments have stretched they stay this way... resulting in every womans nightmare – saggy boobs!!!

Also, without the support it can also cause breast pain and upper back and shoulder problems.

If an average woman was to run without a bra her breasts would move up and down by 8.5cm, by wearing an ordinary bra this would reduce by approx 32 per cent, wearing a sports bra will reduce this by approx a further 20 per cent.

The first sports bra was invented in 1977 initially called a ‘jockbra’ by two ladies called Lisa Lindahl and Hinda Miller following a phone called from Lisa sister as she joked about exercising in ‘everyday bras’ she was frustrated by runaway bra straps, chafing skin and sore breasts after running . (sound familiar? J) this put the cogs in motion for  Lisa, she and Hinda cut up a pair of jockstraps and sewed them together into a bra and marketed it as the ‘jogbra’

Now over the years the sports bra has developed immensely with lots of research and testing been undertaken.

At ERL our favourite has to be Freya Active, in 2010 Health & Fitness magazine put their running shoes on to rigorously test the best high-impact sports bra on the market and Freya Active came out on top – receiving 5 out of 5 in all categories which included style, performance and features and we can agree that it gives you 100% support.

Now we have reminded you of that all important missing item and saved you from a potential nightmare..... get buying girlies !J
